Coexistence & Hybrid Support
Exchange Server SE and 2019 support coexistence with Exchange 2016 (requires CU23). They also support hybrid deployments with Microsoft 365 organizations to facilitate cloud integration and mailbox migrations.
Network & Directory Requirements
Supports Windows Server-based Domain Controllers and Active Directory sites with writable Global Catalog servers. DNS support includes contiguous, noncontiguous, and disjoint namespaces. IPv6 is supported when IPv4 is also enabled.
Hardware Recommendations
Optimized for 64-bit Intel/AMD architectures. Recommended memory scales up to 128GB for Mailbox roles and 64GB for Edge Transport. Supports large memory configurations up to 256GB and ReFS for database/log partitions.

Hardware Requirements
- Processor: x64 architecture (Intel 64 or AMD64). Itanium IA64 processors are not supported.
- Memory: 128 GB minimum for Mailbox role; 64 GB minimum for Edge Transport.
- Disk Space: At least 30 GB on the installation drive; 200 MB on the system drive; 500 MB for the message queue database.
- File System: NTFS required for binaries and system partitions; ReFS supported for mailbox databases and transaction logs.
Software & Compatibility
- Operating System: Must be running a supported version of Windows Server (Standard or Datacenter).
- Active Directory: All domain controllers in the forest must run supported versions of Windows Server.
- Coexistence: Supported with Exchange 2016 CU23.
- Integration: Supports Lync Server 2013 (CU10+) and Skype for Business Server (CU7+).
